Curtins Care

Curtins Care logo

The mission of Curtins Care is to enrich the lives of families, individuals and communities.

It's our aim, through hard work and thoughtful leadership, to focus on the plight of those that may be less fortunate and to build bridges between cultures and communities, creating a better environment for all.

In 2012 we will be organising a variety of charity events across the country that all Curtins’ staff are encouraged to participate in. From ‘Dress Down Day’ to a cross country charity bike ride, we ensure that there is something for everyone to get involved in.

This year we will be splitting all of the funds raised between a selection of charities nominated by Curtins’ staff. Our national charity Children with Cancer and 5 local charities - Forever Friends Appeal, Sahir House, Nottinghamshire Hospice, Penny Lane Development Trust and LHS Minotaurs - will all receive a portion of the money raised by Curtins Care.

We've developed a charity committee that is focused on driving forward the programme of activities we have scheduled to ensure we hit our fundraising targets.

Here is a sample of some of the Charity events and initiatives we have been involved in:

Paul's Mountain Mission

Paul Metcalfe, trans-global thrill seeker, climbed the Matterhorn mountain in the Alps in 2010, reaching the summit on 7th August at 9.15am after a 2 week ascent! Paul raised £1,335 for our 50 year anniversary charities Barnardos and Unicef.

Curtins Charity Cycle Ride

This year, a team of riders from across our 11 offices will once again be setting off around the country on their bikes to raise money for our 2011 charity Marie Curie.

Please contact Paula Gainer on Paula.Gainer@Curtins.com if you would like to make a donation.

In 2010, eight teams of riders cycled 1250 miles in pairs over two days, covering 2500 miles in total. That's 50 miles a year for 50 years!

The £50 Challenge

We gave members of staff £50 and asked them to come up with imaginative ways of raising as much money as possible from that amount. We saw members of staff turning their living rooms into Indian restaurants, raffling weeks in Spanish villas and setting up tuck shops in their offices!

The '50' Initiatives

We'd like to think we can make a difference to the World without involving money, so during our 50th Anniversary year, we set our staff a series of initiatives that involve the number 50. For instance, we asked staff to plant a total of 50 trees, encouraged 50 people to donate blood and to become organ and bone marrow donors, and we also asked that over the year we make 50 defined actions for recycling raw materials!
