Young people development
Curtins maintain a long standing tradition of engageming with local schools and universities, participating in careers events to inform school pupils of career opportunities within the industry and providing work place experience opportunities.
Technical Director Jon Moister, of our Manchester office, is a visiting professor at the University of Salford. Part of Jon’s involvement at the faculty of Engineering’s curriculum includes setting the brief for the students’ fourth year MEng project as well as attending the presentations and as assisting with the marking.
Curtins offer a prize for the highest individual mark, last year claimed by Dave Carter.
Curtins Consulting is sponsoring Steve Dowell, an engineering intern at the company, to complete a month of volunteer work in Kimilili, Kenya. Read More.
In the past, this has been extended to overseas communities. In 2007 we provided work experience to a student from Riga, Latvia through the IAESTE programme run by the British Council and plan to develop this support to a greater number of students from other parts of the world to enable both the participants in the scheme and our own staff to learn about and share different cultural experiences.
