All Saints Primary School
This new entry level primary school has been design to achieve Exemplar Schools status. The new school will allow the existing school facilities to be relocated into this modern, state of the art education facility, to provide high standard education to 340 pupils.
The project has won various awards namely the Value Award at the Yorkshire and Humber Constructing Excellence Awards 2009 and the Yorkshire LABC Building Excellence Award for best Education project 2009.
Curtins were presented with an opportunity to produce a free flowing structure that followed the contours of the linear curving site and left behind the traditional regimented classroom pattern. The underlying approach to this brief was to curve the building on plan along its side elevations and more tightly at each end, while at the same time curving the roof from a central valley to sweep upwards at the very different eaves level.
