Hammersmith Hospital, L Block

L Block 1 L Block 2 L Block 4

The proposed scheme involves the £53 million redevelopment of the Hammersmith Campus, East Quarter located at the Hammersmith campus of the Imperial College in London. The proposed scheme involves the demolition of the existing L and J blocks to the east of the site and the construction of the new Kennedy Centre.

The project is divided into three blocks comprising The Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, a Research and Development facility and an Office / Administrative facility.

The design of the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology and Research & Development facility is based on a 7 storey in situ reinforced concrete frame including a basement constructed on piled foundations. The design of the Office / Administrative facility is based upon a seven storey steel frame with composite concrete decking built over a new basement slab, on piled foundations. The KIR and Research and Development facility will have the capacity to accommodate a Category 2 containment R&D facility with typically open plan labs on either side of secondary support/cellular labs. The Office / Administrative facility will house the offices and small meeting functions with a combination of approximately 30% cellular space and 70% open plan.
