Park Central is the first part of the Attwood Green Regeneration project in Birmingham and provides new commercial and housing opportunities, enhanced amenities and an improved local environment.

A joint venture (under a PPP agreement) between Birmingham City Council, Optima, Crest Nicholson and Mercian, the project has been designed by Gardner Stewart Architects. It includes up to 26,500m² of commercial space, 1,400 new homes and a new 8 acre, with work being carried out over a ten year period (estimated completion date 2014).

Curtins have been involved in the structural design of Phases 1-7. These are mainly apartments and houses with some retail and community facilities. The buildings range from 2 storey houses up to 8 storey apartment blocks constructed in steel frame and composite concrete floors with a mixture of pad and pile foundations. Elevation treatments vary and several new hurdles have needed to be overcome following the introduction of new Building Regulations to ensure compliance and ease of construction.
