Hampstead Theatre
This new build theatre provides a main auditorium with 375 seats, an education and rehearsal rooms and bar area.
The building comprises an elliptical auditorium with a sloping rear wall that is supported on raking precast concrete columns.
There is a light two storey pavilion to 3 sides of the main auditorium with bridges allowing access between the two.
Both the auditorium and the pavilion are of steel / concrete hybrid construction. The elliptical and raking steel frame to the auditorium was erected prior to placement of the insitu concrete, thus reducing the need any major temporary works. The basement is a 5m deep reinforced concrete buoyancy raft.
Curtins were also appointed as Planning Supervisor on this scheme.
