Liverpool Anglican Cathedral Visitors Centre
The new visitors centre and mezzanine café bar provide additional facilities to the grade I listed Anglican Cathedral in Liverpool. The project has been completed in 24 weeks and has a contract value of £1.4 million for the shell construction. The work has been undertaken in consultation with English Heritage.
Whilst the cathedral design has fulfilled it intentions as a place of worship it lacked a number of features that are expected from visitors to an important tourism destination. This project addressed these deficiencies and provides:
- A new mezzanine slab provides increased café facilities and is fully accessible by disabled visitors.
- A new lecture theatre which describes the work of the cathedral and is also used for other events.
- New welfare / toilet facilities. The existing cathedral had only 2 toilets for public use prior to this contract.
- A new staircase and lift shaft provides access to all levels.
