Curtins have market-leading experience in the design of both 25m and 50m competition standard pools and have a full working knowledge of the design constraints imposed by the building in use and also during the construction phase.
Very strict requirements are imposed on dimensional tolerance within the tank itself, to ensure compliance with the relevant design standards – funding from external bodies is often dependent on this. When developing the early concept design this tolerance needs to be fully understood and considered to ensure risk is mitigated at the earliest point.
The construction of the tank itself is often the biggest challenge, and is most likely to fall on the critical path of the construction program. Dealing with temporary soil retention, ground water and buoyancy are often the drivers behind the construction strategy of the pool tank and having this knowledge and appreciation of the construction challenges ensures the design work pre-tender helps to simplify these problems.
