Community Engagement
Commercial organisations such as ours have the ability to support and promote community engagement, and we fully embrace this responsibility. We engage with our local communities through various initiatives, such as sponsoring fundraising events, collaborating with clients and suppliers to donate resource and time, working with schools and universities to promote STEM careers, offering teacher placements and contributing to the Government’s Social Mobility Pledge.

Our founder believed in creating opportunities for everyone and his belief still resonates with us today. We have signed up to the Social Mobility Pledge, which means that as a business, we help to guide what we feel the Government needs to do and find out how we can support their actions in order to improve social mobility in the UK. Through the work with our STEM Ambassadors and teacher placements, and our programme of work experience and apprenticeships, we endeavour to accelerate the rate of change and create equal opportunity for all.

NCE Recognising Women in Engineering Awards
We are proud to say that we have collaborated with New Civil Engineer to launch their first-ever event to celebrate the achievements of women in engineering. The Recognising Women in Engineering Awards represent a unique opportunity for women in engineering to gain recognition at a national level, and have their achievements celebrated at an exclusive dinner hosted by Curtins and NCE in London.
Entrants can be from any discipline within a civil engineering firm and the judges looked for women who had made a major contribution to their firm or a project’s successful outcome. The inaugural event in 2018 honoured six women and has since been repeated annually. For more information visit their website here.
