The Barons Quay project is a major retail and leisure redevelopment adjacent to the River Weaver in Northwich town centre, including the creation of more than 300,000 sq ft of shopping space, cinemas, restaurants, cafes, new public realm spaces and parking for almost 1200 vehicles.

We were appointed by CWAC initially to assist with the feasibility study, and went on to develop the design as part of the client-team through planning and on to tender. Our role included civil, structural and highway engineering, together with Transport Planning and Geo/Environmental services.

We focused in particular on a number of inherent site issues such as flooding, historic salt mining works and the local infra-structure, which includes an existing pumping station and sewer diversion. The new buildings are largely steel framed structures, supported on piled foundations.
