Multi award-winning project including RIBA award, Civic Trust President’s Choice Award, ACE Engineering Excellence Property Awards & BCO refurbished/recycled workspace.

This project converted a tyre warehouse constructed in 1925, having laid derelict for 25 years to create retail, office and hotel space.

The scheme has a feeling of modern internal space which has been created by the inclusion of full height ribbon glazing within the existing building envelope. A new glazed external wall formed along both sides of the building.

Full bays were removed to accommodate circular holes, lined with steel plate balustrading, through each of the seven  upper floors and roof.

A new timber deck promenade in the style of a seaside pier was introduced above roof level, giving views of a new green roof and Birmingham beyond. This green roof is the largest in the UK.

This project was achieved using our R.A.P.I.D approach.
