    A steel frame was considered the most appropriate solution for this project to accommodate the long spans required over the sports halls, studios and swimming pool in the new leisure centre.

    Portal frame trusses and cellular beams were each considered in arriving at a functional, yet aesthetically pleasing design solution. Planning restrictions dictated the 8 court sports hall being sunk into the ground. This dictated a 34m x 40m transfer at first floor to release the scheme.
