We helped Kings School achieve their vision of
creating state-of-the-art sports facilities through this extension and refurbishment project. The sports hall and swimming pool facilities were extended and refurbished to make way for new changing rooms, a gym, an ergo room, a studio, a cafe, a classroom and armoury. By encapsulating the existing hall in gold cladding it has made it a real focal point for the school in its prominent location.
The extension houses the new facilities within a
brick clad, steel framed building, with precast floors and mass concrete foundations. A new link corridor provides access to the lightly refurbished swimming pool changing rooms. The building also houses the armoury, that had to follow strict design guidelines in order to be accepted by the RFCA.
Added Value:
Meeting MOD requirements for the vibration
sensitive armoury, via a ‘box in a box’ construction allowed the school to centralise its Combined Cadet Force accommodation and resources within the new scheme, rather than having to provide a separate building elsewhere on campus.
