The new 2,300sqm Press Building will house
a new industrial 1000T press to research the
pressing of lightweight materials to form the
car technology of the future, as part of the University’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre.

The site has a history of open cast mining
along with being the site of an historic mineral
railway. Several underground features linked
with the above needed careful consideration
during development of the project.

The project was designed, procured and built
in under 12 months requiring us to use BIM
technology to visualise and accelerate the
normal design processes.
