- A Toast to 65 Years at Liverpool's Royal Liver Building
Last Thursday evening, we marked a major milestone - 65 years of Curtins - with an unforgettable celebration at the iconic Royal Liver Building in Liverpool. The evening brought together industry peers, clients, and partners to reflect on our shared contributions to shaping the built environment across the Liverpool City Region.
Our exhibition showcased Curtins’ journey from its humble beginnings in 1960, when Bill Curtin founded the practice from his home in Aigburth, to becoming a national consultancy with offices across the UK and Ireland. From post-war school building programmes to transformative regeneration projects, our legacy of engineering excellence was on full display.
We proudly highlighted our role in shaping Liverpool’s skyline through conservation and adaptation of landmark sites such as the Royal Albert Dock and The Municipal Building. Our work spans Liverpool and Wirral Waters, Kings Dock, Festival Gardens, Hind Street, and the deep water container port, as well as work to breathe new life into the docklands on both sides of the Mersey.
As a 100% Employee-Owned business and Investors in People Platinum employer, we’re committed to supporting local institutions through skills development, STEM engagement, and career progression. Bill’s values continue to guide us as we champion inclusive design and sustainable practices.
A highlight of the evening was hearing from Helen Goddard, granddaughter of Bill Curtin, who shared heartfelt reflections on the enduring values that have shaped Curtins:
“Curtins revives communities and spaces, creating places where people feel safe, connected and proud. They champion inclusive design, focus on greener, more sustainable practice. Curtins paves the way for a brighter future. Bill may have started the legacy of Curtins, but it’s the people that have been part of this business that have maintained that golden thread to make it what it is today.”
This celebration followed a successful Curtins Fest for our people, and our recent win as Consultancy of the Year at the Insider Liverpool Awards 2025.
It’s safe to say – this year has been one for the books.
