Arts & Culture - The North, England
The Littlewoods Building 1930s art deco, with almost a kilometre of stucco-faced façade, which, for decades, has been under threat of demolition. However, in partnership with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and Liverpool City Council, Capital & Centric has committed to turn it into a world-class media hub, with film & TV studios.
Years of degradation and a major fire in 2018 threatened the future of this iconic, steel-framed building. Working closely with the design team as the project Civil/Structural engineers appointed by Capital & Centric, we have undertaken various inspections and assessments, using our expertise and experience in the salvation of important and landmark buildings, to collate and consider the current condition, and to advise with regard to the repair and remediation of the deteriorating, and badly fire damaged structure. We have also developed our civil and structural engineering design and drawings for cost estimating purposes, and will be progressing towards the construction phase in due course.
