Cleve Hill Solar Park is the UK's largest solar power station, located on the Graveney marshes near Faversham in Kent.
Our transport planning teams secured approval for a five-turbine wind farm near Watford following successfully addressing concerns over abnormal load deliveries through sensitive residential routes.
Energy - The Midlands, England
Our transport planning team successfully defended a five-turbine wind farm scheme at Public Inquiry. The wind farm consisted of five, 125m tall turbines, on land near the rural village of Watford in Northamptonshire.
A key focus of the Inquiry was in relation to the effects of transporting abnormal loads, some up to 50m long and others weighing as much as 165 tonnes, past residential properties and sensitive structures along the proposed delivery route to the site. Local residents were objecting to the delivery of such abnormal loads.
Through the evidence and technical work prepared by Curtins, it was demonstrated that the impact of the development would be negligible.
Transporting extremely large and heavy components of up to 50m long and 165 tonnes - through sensitive residential areas raised safety and disruption concerns among local residents.
We provided detailed technical evidence to demonstrate that these abnormal loads could be delivered with minimal impact, addressing community objections and ensuring safe transport logistics.
