- The Next Event: Building Bristol’s Sustainable Future
It's our third and final Sustainability Breakfast Seminar in Bristol next week, and we’re taking a moment to reflect on the highlights - and inviting you to register now for the last one of the series.
Since 2023, we’ve welcomed over 1,200 guests to nine sustainability events in Bristol, Cambridge, Kendal, Leeds, London, Nottingham, Manchester, and Scotland, all united by one goal - tackling climate change in the built environment.Â
Our Impact
As engineers, we understand we must lead the way in driving the sustainability initiative forward through courage, collaboration and innovative design approaches, such as the use of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), data capture and making informed decisions through our embodied carbon toolkit.
A significant sustainable development and key highlight for us was working on the University of West England (UWE) Frenchay Campus – the largest Passivhaus student accommodation projects in the world. Our teams provided civil, structural, geotechnical and transport planning services for this ultra-low energy consumption, which sets the benchmark for international energy-efficient buildings. Â
Our Journey
Since 2019, we’ve been following our seven steps to carbon reduction. We’ve measured and recorded embodied carbon across more than 500 projects on our database using our bespoke carbon calculator.
Through our experience and the production of our Sustainability Impact report, we grew the confidence to offer insights and bring the conversation on to our external events in 2023. We’ve proudly hosted events all over the UK, helping to turn the spotlight on reducing our carbon impact. We look forward to continuing to discuss lessons learnt and ways we can collaborate to move forward at our upcoming Bristol breakfast seminar at the Watershed on Tuesday 25th November.
We care about the world we leave behind and leave a lasting legacy by being open and honest with our employees through our annual carbon impact report. We invest in educating our teams and delivering over 1,500 hours of sustainability CPD training.
In 2019, we committed to decreasing the embodied carbon in our projects from 340kgCO2e/m2 to 295kgCO2e/m2 by 2030 - you’ll have to join us at the event to find out how we are getting on! Â
