On Thursday, 28th November, we partnered with the Lake District National Park and Cumbria Action for Sustainability to host Low Carbon Cumbria: Construction Spotlight at North Lakes Hotel & Spa in Penrith. The event was well-attended, focusing on carbon reduction in the national park and the wider Cumbrian region. Karen Mitchell and Tina Holt from Cumbria Action for Sustainability addressed the climate emergency, while our Director, Andy Roberts, discussed innovative engineering methods to reduce embodied carbon in new builds and retrofits. Rose Lord from the Lake District National Park Authority showcased successful retrofitting examples and highlighted best practices for conservation and maintenance.

The event also featured discussions led by four additional panellists on decarbonisation and construction sustainability skills in Cumbria: Diane Hubbard (Green Footsteps Ltd), Emma Porter (The Rebuild Site), Alex Isted (Morgan Sindall Construction), and Lee Todd (Lakes College). We extend our gratitude to all panellists and speakers for sharing their insights and impactful work, and to everyone who attended.

Catch up of the event's highlights in the video below.
