As one of Curtins’ leading specialists on RAAC, Janice Smith, Director – Scotland was invited by both the IStructE and the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) during the same week in February.

Up first, Janice joined the IStructE Scotland Regional Group’s event on RAAC: Inspections and Next Steps on 20th February. The workshop and its presentations led the discussion on the methodology of undertaking inspections of buildings suspected of containing RAAC, what to do when you find RAAC, how to monitor it, and the approach to planning and implementing remedial works.

Later in the week, Janice attended the APSE Scotland Building and Housing Seminar as a key speaker on The impact of RAAC across local authority assets. She was joined by Marjory Mackie, Housing Strategy and Development Manager at West Lothian Council to discuss the challenges, how local authorities are dealing with the impact and what additional support is needed.
