Curtins is leading upgrades to nearly half of the Isle of Man’s largest estate, making homes warmer, weather-tight, and energy efficient. The works address major structural issues in properties built in the 1960s and ’70s.
An extra care accomodation facility in Edinburgh, housing people with phyiscal disabilities and challanging behaviour, the project also included staff accomodation.
Housing - Scotland
New 4 storey, 24 flat assisted care block for people physically disabled and with challenging behaviour, and staff accommodation in Edinburgh. It is the first of its type in Scotland and has been developed by HBV, a specialist supported living developer, using funding from Triple Point. The building is traditional loadbearing blockwork construction with precast concrete suspended floors and roof supported on piled ground beams. External brickwork cladding, with recessed and protruding bricks has been installed to all elevations. Surface water drainage is attenuated and infiltrates into the ground on site.
The site had poor ground conditions and steeply sloping site
Curtins adopted a piled foundation solution to manage site constraints. The public footpath through the site was re-routed and maintained throughout the project.
