Curtins Edinburgh Welcomes Dr Scott Arthur MP: A Celebration of Partnership, Progress and Breaking Down Barriers

After recently relocating to our new Edinburgh office at 22 Canning Street, we’ve been enjoying the opportunity to show visitors around the space - and last week, we had a particularly special guest.

We were delighted to welcome Dr Scott Arthur MP, Member of Parliament for Edinburgh South West, for an introduction to Curtins and a glimpse into our day-to-day work.

The visit highlighted the shared commitment between Curtins and Dr Arthur to fostering inclusive, sustainable infrastructure and breaking down barriers to opportunity.

Dr Arthur’s background in infrastructure and engineering gives him a deep understanding of both the technical and societal dimensions of development. We were proud to share with him some of the key projects we’ve contributed to in the area, including the Nucleus Building at the University of Edinburgh, Haymarket Yards Student Accommodation, L&S Edinburgh Ltd, and the Cancer Bridging Project at the Western General Hospital for NHS Lothian.

Dr Scott Arthur was elected as Member of Parliament for Edinburgh South West in July 2024. Prior to this, he served as a city councillor and held the role of Convener for Transport and Environment. During this role, he championed sustainable transport initiatives - most notably the proposed north–south tram link - and played a prominent role in shaping local environmental policy and debate.

Dr Scott Arthur MP commented: “My visit to Curtins last week was a great opportunity to hear about the company’s work in Edinburgh and across Scotland. The team showed fantastic commitment to the development of sustainable infrastructure, and it was encouraging to see a company dedicated to the inclusion and support of new talent through their Graduate Academy program. I am proud to have Curtins in Edinburgh South West.”

Dr Scott Arthur’s expertise and passion for infrastructure and equitable development align closely with our own mission. The visit was a valuable opportunity to share our work and discuss how engineering can deliver sustainable, inclusive spaces across the city.

Dr Arthur’s visit was a welcome chance to share that mission and underline the importance of breaking down barriers so that talent from every background can thrive.”

This marks an exciting new chapter - one where our ideas can evolve and help shape the future of infrastructure and development in Edinburgh. Through collaboration between industry and policymakers, projects have the potential to become more sustainable, inclusive, and truly beneficial to local people and communities
