We were delighted to join our first Liverpool City Region Innovators Roundtable, hosted by Insider Media at the University of Liverpool’s Digital Innovation Facility. Board Director Andrew Macfarlane met with leaders from across the region to discuss how organisations are embracing new ideas, building cultures that support innovation, and collaborating to deliver transformative projects for the city region and beyond.

Set inside the facility’s drone lab, surrounded by robotics, prototypes, and experimental tech, the group explored how innovation is evolving across industries. Conversations ranged from AI and humanoid robotics to gender diversity, cross‑sector collaboration and the UK’s ability to turn research into real‑world productivity.

Andrew shared insights from Curtins’ perspective, highlighting how innovation in the built environment often lies not in the final structure, but in the methods and technologies that shape it. From the shift from pen‑and‑paper to 3D modelling, VR, AI and data‑driven design, he reflected on the rapid transformation of the past 25 years-and the challenge of ensuring policy and frameworks keep pace.

It was great to be part of the event alongside so many brilliant innovators.
