As part of the Hampshire County Council framework agreement, this project comprised of both refurbishment and new build elements at this existing school. The new build element will provide an extended height performance studio with full changing facilities, technicians control room and large item storage room.
The height of the new performance studio informed selection of a steel frame with lightweight cold rolled inner leaf which would be clad in masonry. The roof was a mix of lightweight insulated deck profile over the studio space. The ground investigation revealed generally good quality chalk founding strata that allowed economic mass concrete foundations and a ground bearing slab.
