The unoccupied Ash House at Lancaster
University was refurbished to provide 17
    contemporary self-contained flats, each with
six bedrooms, a communal kitchen and dining
    area, bathroom, and living space.

At ground level the structure was formed of
a concrete frame and upper levels were load
bearing masonry walls with concrete slab
floors. Also, part of the North West corner of
the building was demolished to create outside
    space.

The works took place adjacent to the
Chaplaincy Centre and Islamic Prayer Room,
    necessitating careful planning to reduce
disruption and noise, and to maintain access.
