Horton and Walker Houses surround Exchange Flags in Liverpool immediately behind the Town Hall.
The two buildings were refurbished and developed in a phased manner to provide high quality office accommodation. As it was not possible to prove by calculation, we formulated a series of static load tests to assess the floors structural capacity and demonstrated that the building was capable of supporting BCO standard office loadings.
This project also included the creation of new shaft for four lifts by cutting through all 11 floors; the external stone cladding was inspected and a remedial specification devised to repair cracked masonry.
