We have recently completed the refurbishment of the JB Priestley Library for University of Bradford. The original library was a 1970’s masonry clad concrete frame, which had high energy use and low levels of natural light.
The design utilised the heavy concrete frame for thermal mass and formed new light wells within the existing structure. This allowed heat to be absorbed by the structure during the day and dissipated through the light wells at night.
