STEMLab is the cornerstone of a £25m Student Learning Zone on the University’s West Park Campus. The development comprised construction of a new Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths facility.

Housed in the building are teaching labs for science and engineering, workshops, computer-aided design and rapid prototyping facilities, a design studio and informal learning spaces.

The building is of split level construction to allow full ease of access from existing ground levels. Careful consideration of the surrounding landscape and drainage, together with modelling of excavations, foundations and slope formations, avoided the need for costly retaining wall construction.
