Birmingham’s Royal Mail sorting office and surrounding areas were transformed into a 1m ft2 mixed-use building. The main structure has been maintained with a street cut through the centre of the building for retail and leisure and additional timber framed residential buildings on the roof.

The 1960’s compositely designed steel framed building lent itself to the introduction of additional floors at both roof and lower levels due to large 40ft grid and 20ft storey heights. The building is now going through refurbishment with floors being infilled and a roof added to cover the street.
