We have been appointed by Faithful+Gould on the SCAPE framework for the refurbishment and conversion of the fire damaged Grade II listed Walworth Town Hall.
The refurbishment works include a new atrium space located at the centre of the building, allowing for better connectivity between the Town Hall, Newington Library and Cummins museum buildings.
The new building will provide an open community space. This will be created by opening up existing structural elements facing into the courtyard and interconnecting below ground archive rooms with a new basement construction.
The ceremonial chamber and other spaces damaged by the fire will be restored such as the open timber truss roofs. The existing building construction varies from timber floors to filler joists floors, which will need to be strengthened to support the proposed alterations.
