The project is for a new build Urgent and Emergency Care Department (UECD) on a car park site at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. The Department will consist of clinical and staff areas with provision for a
plant room. There are also to be two linked corridors to the existing Imaging Department and Emergency Department. The works undertaken include excavation works, laying of foundations, erection of the superstructure, external façade and internal structures and associated electrical and mechanical systems.

£2.9m Chesterfield Royal Hospital Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU)

Role: Adviser to Principal Designer
The project is for a single storey extension to the existing Children’s Ward (Nightingale Ward) to form a new Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU), D1 medical use of approximately 195sqm. The works include demolition of existing external walls and external plant building; construction of a 170sqm extension to the front of the ward comprising a new entrance and clinical accommodation to form a PAU; extension of the existing plant building; and construction of associated external works including reconfiguration of the vehicle drop off and retention of the existing fire appliance parking location.

£8.5m Dorothy Pattison Older Adults Inpatient Facility, West Midlands
Client: Black Country Partnership NHS Foundation Trust / Kier Construction
Role: Adviser to Principal Designer
The new Older Adults Inpatient Facility building is to provide state-of-the-art facilities at Dorothy Pattison Hospital, Walsall. The single storey building will create a new, modern, dementia compliant 25 bed unit.
As well, the older adult wards construction will necessitate new ward entrance arrangements and additional car parking facilities. The site is made up of vacant land and existing tarmacadam car parking spaces, along with a vacant former Renal Unit for the Hospital, which is to be demolished to allow the construction of the new facility.

£35m Guy’s Hospital, Orthopaedic Centre of Excellence, London
Client: Johnson & Johnson Finance / Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust / IBI Group
Role: Adviser to Principal Designer
Development of a new Orthopaedics Centre of Excellence at the Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital site. Johnson & Johnson Managed Services, part of Johnson & Johnson Finance Limited, and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust have entered into a partnership to deliver the facility. The Orthopaedics Centre of Excellence will be a state-of-the-art facility which will include eight new theatres, recovery areas, outpatients, therapies and diagnostics specifically for orthopaedic patients. It will also encompass teaching, training and research and innovation.

£411k Stockport Stepping Hill Hospital CDU, Greater Manchester
Client: Stockport NHS Foundation Trust / Ryder Architecture
Role: Adviser to Principal Designer
The project involves the subdivision of the existing Clinical Decision Unit (CDU) at Stepping Hill Hospital Stockport, to form a Rapid Assessment Area and CDU. Works will include the demolition of existing non-structural walls and erection of new to form a waiting area, consultation / examination rooms (2 No.), new staff bases, toilets and associated works. An existing modular unit located adjacent to the CDU building will be modified to provide new office space.
£15m St. George’s University Hospital Emergency Floor Refurbishment (Phase A), London

Role: Principal Designer
The project includes for the refurbishment of the current emergency floor to the St James Wing at St George’s University Hospital, London. The project is to be undertaken in two phases – Phase A which includes for the refurbishment of the existing; and Phase B which includes for the new build element Whilst some areas of the Wing has seen refurbishment / modernisation over the years the Trust have identified a need to refurbish the Wing to allow for current and future demands.
£10m Doncaster Royal Infirmary Fire Improvement Works, Yorkshire
Client: Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust / The Manser Practice
Role: Adviser to Principal Designer
Appointment on a multimillion-pound major modernisation package of works at Doncaster Royal Infirmary Women’s and Children’s Block and the East Ward Block. The project focus is on fire improvement works which are taking place within a live hospital environment. The project includes for enabling works and asbestos removal and subsequent fire improvement works within a range of locations including main stairs, rear stairs, lift lobbies, risk rooms, wards and theatres.
