We have arrived at the end of our Civil Engineering and Sustainable Infrastructure Insight Programme, supported by Symetri Europe, with the focus on supporting the participating students in the next career steps.

In our last learning session of the year, our Director of Learning and Development Rebecca King provided the students with an understanding of what recruiters and businesses, such as Curtins, are looking for when taking on student placements or graduates. As an engaged group of young people, on the cusp of the beginning their careers, they asked plenty of questions about the typical recruitment process and what Curtins look for in our applicants.

To help illustrate the varying routes into and through the industry, the session included a Careers Carousel, where a selection of our people shared their pathways. Thanks to Marc Barlow, Niamh McCloskey, Tom Leake, Alice Fearn and Laura Rodriguez for joining us.

To round off the day, Kate Clegg Marketing Manager, delivered a session on marketing and branding, supporting the students by reflecting on how they can strategically create a personal brand to help them stand out in the jobs market – echoing the process Curtins recently went through to develop our new brand.

Thank to everyone who has contributed to the five-week programme and its aims to develop the civil engineering talent of the future.
