Andy Smith, Associate in our London Office has written a short guide to Sustainability & Geotechnics for The Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE).

The paper presents some project-related objectives that both geotechnical and structural engineers can use to improve the sustainability of a project’s foundations. These include increasing the scope of site investigations, optimising foundation designs (such as using ground improvement & reusing foundations), improving the accuracy in setting out and reappraising foundation design at later design stages.
