- Reflecting on a Year at Canning Mews: Highlights from Our Scotland Team
In lots of ways, we’re closer to our clients than we’ve ever been. With tools like Teams, email and mobile phones, our industry is more connected than ever.
If this is the case, why are networking events still so valuable and rewarding?
Last Thursday in Edinburgh wasn’t just about our annual summer social, it was about reconnecting with industry peers and building new relationships. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
A year on from moving into Canning Mews, the evening also felt like a moment to take stock of everything we’ve achieved in the past 12 months, and who we’ve achieved it with.
Our Business Unit Director, Janice Smith, brought this into focus with an update on our work across Scotland, including Orbiston Community Hub, HMP Glasgow, works at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Lenzie Academy and St Kentigern’s Academy.
Numerous schemes have been delivered in partnership with leading developers, contractors,
architects and industry experts for public and private clients, across this spectacular and varied region.
Our Team's Achievements
Over the past year, the team has achieved a number of significant milestones:
Amanda Potter and Laura Jivanandham obtained their Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) Foundation Certification
Robert Drodz completed his IStructE Professional Review interview.
Laura McCubbin successfully obtained her sign off for progression from ICE IEng towards CEng.
Kelton Ewing and Angus Mohun were promoted to Project Engineer & Oskar Schaplitz was promoted to Engineer.
These accomplishments highlight the team’s continued commitment to professional development and delivering high-quality, impactful work.

We have spaces available for a site visit to HMP Glasgow. If you would like to attend, please reach out to the team for details.
One of the most meaningful parts of the evening was seeing that shared mindset extend beyond our projects. Supporting MND Scotland as our Curtins Care-nominated charity reflects our commitment not only to deliver impactful projects but also to create meaningful social value within our communities.
We want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed. Your support will help improve access to care, fund vital research and campaign for those affected by motor neurone disease.
Thank you once again for your continued support. We look forward to working together in the months ahead and hope to welcome you back next year! In the meantime, stay connected with our Scotland team: Janice Smith, Julie Henderson, Gordon McPherson and Chris Gowans.
