- 10 Years of Curtins Glasgow and Major Updates on HMP Glasgow
This year marks a significant milestone for Curtins as we celebrate 10 years since opening our Glasgow office. Over the past decade, we've had the privilege of contributing to some of Scotland's most ambitious and transformative projects, helping to shape communities and deliver lasting value across the built environment.
To mark the occasion, we're bringing together industry leaders and project partners to reflect on our journey so far and explore one of Scotland's most significant construction projects currently underway: HMP Glasgow.
HMP Glasgow: Delivering a Landmark Project for Scotland
HMP Glasgow is a landmark £1 billion development that will become the official replacement for the 144-year-old HMP Barlinnie. Currently under construction on a 54-acre site in Provanmill, north-east Glasgow, the facility is being delivered by Kier Construction on behalf of the Scottish Prison Service (SPS).
Designed to accommodate 1,344 prisoners, the new prison will provide a safe, secure and sustainable environment that supports positive outcomes for people in SPS care, staff, visitors and the wider community. Importantly, the project is also being delivered to meet the Net Zero Public Sector Buildings Standard, setting a new benchmark for custodial facilities across the UK.
As structural and civil engineering consultants on the project, Curtins is proud to be working alongside Kier and the wider delivery team to help bring this nationally significant development to life.
Our CPD Breakfast Event :
As part of our Glasgow anniversary celebrations, we will be hosting a breakfast industry event featuring speakers from:
Attendees will gain valuable insight into the delivery of HMP Glasgow, hearing directly from key project partners about the challenges, opportunities and innovations shaping the development.
The session will explore the Key project achievements and milestones, lessons learned throughout delivery, and the team's approach to Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). We will demonstrate how collaboration is driving successful project outcomes.
The event will end with a Q&A session, followed by networking opportunities, allowing attendees to continue the conversation with fellow professionals from across the industry.
Reflecting on a Decade in Glasgow
Beyond discussing one of Scotland's most important infrastructure projects, the event provides an opportunity to celebrate a decade of Curtins in Glasgow. It will be a chance to reconnect with colleagues, clients and industry peers, reflect on our achievements, and look ahead to the exciting opportunities that the future holds.
