On Tuesday 19th November, speakers from Curtins, Bristol City Council and Centre for Cities at the Watershed joined together with 200 registered delegates for a construction industry seminar on sustainable development and design in Bristol.

Sparked by the success of Curtins’ 2023 autumn event at the same welcoming venue, this breakfast delved into a broad range of topics relating to the development of our city during the climate emergency.

Guests heard from industry professionals on how new national policies could influence the city’s development, Bristol City Council's forthcoming Local Plan, and the latest thinking in sustainable design. Hosted by Stephen Beggs, Business Unit Director in Bristo, our speakers were:

  • Ben Smallwood, Sustainable City Team Manager, Bristol City Council: Update on Local Plan Progress

  • Anthony Breach, Associate Director, Centre for Cities: Planning for Sustainable Growth

  • Ben Dawson, Transport Planning Director, Curtins: Developments in National Planning Policy

  • Yazdi Batki, Principal Civil Engineer, Curtins: SAB and SuDS – the Future of Sustainable Infrastructure

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We are pleased to share the event recording, as we work together to drive a more sustainable future for Bristol.
