Project Overview
This exciting residential and mixed -use project in Dun Laoghaire, consisted of the demolition of two existing office buildings on the site that dated from the 1970’s. As part of the regeneration of the outdated industrial area, 78 apartments have been constructed (5 studios, 58 1-bed and 15 2-bed). The development also includes 2 commercial/retail units, a TV and games rooms, refuse store, concierge and management office and a communal lounge opening onto a landscaped garden at ground floor level. Car parking spaces are provided at the ground and basement levels, while also providing bicycle parking spaces.
Now complete, the scheme provides a mixture of high-end and affordable rental apartments, in answer to the critical housing shortage currently in place around Dublin. It demonstrates how the use of MMC and digital technologies can be used to provide an efficient and sustainable design.
A striking new bridge adjoins the development to the adjacent Clonkeen Park. Its visually dramatic appearance will provide a pleasant viewing experience for passers-by fortunate to live in such a beautiful setting.
The Challenge
The client wanted a sustainable design for the 5-storey building with with semi-sunken basement carpark.
Our Solution
We designed a precast concrete structure to ensure minimum material waste occurred along with increases in the quality and speed of construction on site.
