- Getogether 2026: Celebrating the People Behind Curtins
At Curtins, our bi-annual Getogether is more than just an event. It's a tradition that has brought our people together for over 40 years.
Started in the 1980s by our founder, Bill Curtin, the Getogether was created with a simple idea in mind: to thank our people for their hard work and build connection. As a nationally spread business, Curtins has a distinct one-team approach. For our clients, this means that we’re able to share resources and knowledge to deliver the highest standard on their projects. For our people, it means we’re backed and supported by over 350 colleagues.
What began with just our first few offices, has grown into a company-wide celebration welcoming our colleagues from across the UK and Ireland.
Bringing together teams from Scotland, Ireland, the North, Midlands and South is no small undertaking, but it's something we proudly continue because we know the value of genuine human connection.
Team Spirit
This year's Getogether took place at Manchester's iconic Victoria Warehouse, a venue rich in history and character. Originally built in 1925 as storage for cotton fabrics and confectionery, its impressive industrial setting provided the perfect backdrop for our 2026 event and reflected the spirit of innovation and reuse that we value.
For the daytime activities, we transformed the venue into the Curtins Fairground, complete with mini challenges, games and head-to-head competitions. Teams threw themselves into the activities with enthusiasm and a healthy dose of competitive spirit.
Before the event, each team had been challenged to design their own team T-shirts. The creativity on display certainly didn't disappoint, with some designs proving more successful than others. We'll politely leave the judging discussions there!
Celebrating Our People
After a quick turnaround and outfit change, our guests returned to Victoria Warehouse for an evening dedicated to recognising the people who make Curtins such a special place to work.
Hosted by Board Director Alex Vogt, the evening's staff awards celebrated colleagues who have been nominated by their peers for demonstrating our values and making a positive impact across the business.

Our CEO, Neil, also presented the prestigious Bill Curtin Award, recognising an individual who consistently embodies all of our values and represents the very best of Curtins every day.
Congratulations to Ian Copley, this year's deserving winner.
Special recognition was also given to Julie Hugill, whose resilience, positivity and commitment over the past year have inspired colleagues across the business. Despite facing significant personal challenges, Julie continues to demonstrate the values that define Curtins and the culture we're so proud of.
Ending the Day Together
Following a locally sourced evening meal, with a range of options including vegan dishes, the formalities gave way to celebrations as colleagues took to the dance floor and enjoyed the rest of the night together.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the Getogether is seeing people connect with colleagues they may never usually work alongside. Mixed up in offices, disciplines and teams, new friendships are formed, conversations are started and memories are definitely made.
That's why we've continued this tradition for more than four decades.
Because while we're proud of the engineering solutions we deliver every day, it's our people who make Curtins what it is. The Getogether reminds us that no matter where we're based, nothing beats coming together in person.
